General Motors came in at No. 8 on this year’s Fortune 500, the highest ranked auto company on the list. After a tough few years spent mostly dealing with the aftermath of a massive recall scandal, GM finally seems to be moving into clearer waters.
With all of the turmoil that has dominated the company the past few years, it is easy to forget that GM is more than a century old and for many years was the the largest company by revenue, putting it at No. 1 on the Fortune 500 until it was replaced by Exxon Mobil, and later Walmart.
